By Dipak Prasad Gautam, Parsa, Aug. 5: A record 116 cases of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Parsa district on Wednesday, according to the report of the PCR testing carried out at the Narayani Hospital made public Wednesday morning.
Dr. Madan Upadhya, medical superintendent of the Narayani Hospital, informed that the 116 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 included the inmates of prison in Birgunj, Armed Police Force personnel, Nepali Army personnel and employees of Birgunj Metropolitan City.
Shrawan Kumar Pokharel, jailor at the prison, said that 24 inmates of the prison, three NA personnel and two employees at the prison were found infected with the virus. Earlier, 8 inmates, 3 APF personnel, 4 NA personnel and five employees had tested positive for the virus.
Of the infected confirmed today include 9 each from Ward No. 4 and 10, 8 from Ward No. 27, 3 from Ward No. 15, two each from Ward No. 1, 8 and 9 and one each from Ward No. 3, 25, 24, 12 and 13 of Birgunj Metropolis.
Similarly, Jagarnath Rural Muncipality-5 and Jirabhawani Rural Municipality-3 of Parsa district also recorded a COVID-19 patient each.
With the newly confirmed 116 cases of COVID-19, Parsa district tally of the infected has reached 730. So far, 17 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in the district.
