Kathmandu, July 30: Eleven people died and 12 others were injured in different incidents of natural disaster in last 24 hours in the country, according to the national disaster risk reduction and management authority. Of the dead, nine died in water-induced disasters.
Landslide occurred at 13 different places and heavy rainfall at 10 different places across the country. Two were killed after a landslide buried a house at Naraharinath rural municipality-4 in Kalikot district. Similarly, seven people died after a landslip swept away a house at the rural municipality-7.
Two people died after a rock fell on them at Mahabai rural municipality-7, said the Authority. Search operation has been carried out for five people who have gone missing in disasters in various places in Kalikot district, said Assistant Chief District Officer Yubaraj Guragain.
Monsoon has become active for some days with the low-pressure line reaching near Nepal, said meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar. Monsoon has become more active in east and mid-part of the country, she said. Dhangadhi recorded 198 millimeter rain today while Biratnagar 33.8 millimeter, Taplejung 19 and Simara 17, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
