By Shivaraj Dhungana, Achham, June 2: As many as 10 persons have been identified with COVID-19 infection in Achham today.
A 27-year old female and seven men aged 22, 24, 27, 29, 30 and 40 of Kuskot tested positive for the virus, informed Dev Joshi, Information Officer of Achham Health Office.
Likewise, a 23-year old ambulance driver of Mangalsen Municipality and 32-year old of Chaurpati Rural Municipality-2 were identified with COVID-19 infection in PCR test done at Dhangadhi and Surkhet respectively.
Out of 20 swab samples collected from Kuskot quarantine, 12 have tested COVID-19 negative.
Few days earlier, COVID-19 infection was confirmed in a father-daughter duo who was returning from India, in Dhangadhi.
According to the Achham Health Office, 13 cases of virus infection were identified in the district until now.
After confirmation of virus infection in those staying in quarantine, a team of health office and lab technicians have reached Chaurpati and Mellekh to collect swab samples of other quarantined persons.
Also, preparations are underway to treat COVID-19 patients in isolation.
Following the increasing number of India returnees, the threat of virus spread has increased in the district.
