Kathmandu, Oct. 23: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel has said he will give first priority to public education reform.
During a meeting with Education Journalists Network (EJON) on Thursday, Minister Poudel said he would focus on making classrooms and teaching methods in public schools student friendly to attract children and their guardians towards public schools.

About the private education, Minister said he had a plan to make public education better than private one.
He said that the Ministry was preparing to introduce education action plan which would be categorised in three steps.
The ministry would soon make public its action plan for the betterment of the education sector, Minister Poudel informed.

“Now, the Ministry has been keeping the record of model public schools across the country which have shown outstanding performance, he said, adding, “We have been keeping such records so that other schools could emulate best teaching-learning practices.”
According to Minister Poudel, he is consulting with the experts and stakeholders of education sector to know the problems and their solutions.

About the private education, Minister Poudel said he had a plan to make public education better than private one.
Minister Poudel has not given priority to meet the representatives of private sectors even after assuming the post.

"I can't bring about drastic changes in education because I have only recently assumed the position, but I will give priority to poor and ground-level people while formulating plan," he said. He further said that he would not work under any pressure.
