Defense training for journalists begins

Kathmandu, Nov. 22: A five-day Defence Correspondent Orientation Programme (DCOP) kicked off at the Nepali Army Headquarters on Sunday.
Altogether 26 media persons from different media houses are taking part in the programme organised with the objective of enhancing mutual understanding between the Nepali Army and the media and promoting mutual professional relations in a positive and effective manner.

The programme was inaugurated by Brigadier General and Director at the Directorate of Public Relations and Information (DPR&I) Shantosh Ballave Poudyal.
Delivering the inaugural speech, Director Poudyal thanked the Defence Correspondents for their invaluable time and participation in the DCOP.

Poudyal said that the Nepali Army has conducted the orientation programme with the objective of making the work of expanding mutual cooperation and relations between the Nepali Army and media more effective.
Poudyal said that throughout the programme time, the correspondents would be briefed on the functions, duties and responsibilities of the various bodies of the Nepali Army.
Field visits are also arranged for the participants for interaction with Nepali Army officials.
