Kathmandu, Mar. 8: The Centre for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD) of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) has started transferring teachers along with their posts in the second phase of teachers’ adjustment.
The government decided to transfer teachers, including their posts, in the second phase adjustment while only teachers were transferred to schools, having matching vacancies in the first phase, Baikuntha Prasad Aryal, Director General of the CEHRD, said.
In this phase of adjustment, 169 posts have been transferred and as have been 102 teachers including their posts.
Fourteen teachers from Tehrathum were transferred to Udayapur with their posts, 18 of 20 teachers from Manang were transferred to Nawalparasi East and two to Baglung with their posts.
One of six teachers of Tanahun was transferred to another school of the district while five were transferred to Nawalparasi East.
Similarly, 10 teachers from Parbat were shifted to Nawalparasi East.
Out of 49 teachers transferred from Mustang, 35 were adjusted in Nawalparasi East and 14 in Baglung. Likewise, three teachers from Dolpa were transferred to Jajarkot.
Similarly, 72 teachers from Kathmandu and 15 from Lalitpur were transferred with their posts to bordering districts. Twenty two of the posts were transferred to Nuwakot, 13 to Makwanpur, nine each to Dolakha and Dhading and 34 to Sindhuli districts.
Likewise, 35 posts in Gorkha have been shifted to other schools of the same district. Forty-two posts, including three from Manang and 39 from Kaski, have been shifted to Nawalparasi (20) and Baglung (22). Five posts of Dolpa were adjusted within the district.
The process of transferring teachers with posts has been started on the basis of the decision taken by the District Education Committee through the District Coordination Unit on the recommendation of the local government, DG Aryal informed.
Due to imbalance in teachers and their quotas, the situation is such that in many schools there is no required number of teachers while in others teachers outnumber students.
As many teachers tend to live in the urban and accessible districts, the issue of teachers’ adjustment has been tricky.
The task of matching teachers and their quotas has been in limbo for long also because of political affiliation of the teachers.
Aryal said that this process of matching the posts was expected to solve the imbalance of teacher and student ratio.
