Kathmandu, Sept. 27: The official COVID-19 cases tally in Nepal has reached 71,821 with 18,341 active cases on Saturday.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 1,207 new cases of COVID-19 of which 724 were detected in the Kathmandu Valley itself.
In 10,019 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 1,207 persons were found infected with the novel coronavirus across the nation, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the MoHP, in the daily press briefing today.
Of the 724 new cases confirmed in Kathmandu Valley, 264 females and 460 males were found with the novel coronavirus infection, revealed the daily report released by the MoHP today.
Among them, 583 cases including 199 females and 384 males were detected in Kathmandu, 63 cases including 28 females and 35 males were found in Bhaktapur, and 78 cases including 37 females and 41 males were recorded in Lalitpur.
Meanwhile, some 1,147 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 73.8 per cent, said Dr. Gautam.
As of today, there are 18,341 active cases of COVID-19 of which 7,833 patients are in institutional isolation and the rest are in home isolation. Some 6,331 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are in quarantine.
Of the active cases across the nation, 224 patients are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Unit and 27 are receiving treatment with ventilator support.
Similarly, eight more individuals diagnosed with coronavirus infection have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP. As per the ministry, all those were males. A 66-year-old from Saptari, 20 and 74 year-old from Kathmandu, 88-year-old from Bhaktapur, 74-year-old from Makawanpur, 76-year-old from Lalitpur, 72-year-old from Rupendehi and 30-year-old from Kailali died due to COVID-19 related health condition.
According to the latest update, among the 978,204 RT-PCR tests conducted across the nation, total infected rate stands at 24.54 per cent, death rate at 0.65 per cent and recovery rate stands at 73.81 per cent.
