Kathmandu, Apr. 30: The post of the chairman at Nepal Film Development Board (FDB) has remained vacant after the demise of its chair Keshav Bhattarai on December 15 last year. It is one of the key posts under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology where political appointment is made albeit the person is from the film sector.
However, this time the Ministry has called applications for the post of chairman at the FDB.
Interested individuals should apply within 15 days from the date of publication of the notice, the Ministry said in its notice on Tuesday.
In order to apply for the vacant post, the government has mentioned the eligibility criteria for the persons willing to apply for the same.
In order to be the chairman of the board, one has to be a Nepali citizen who has completed 30 years of age and has not reached 65 years.
In addition, people who have graduated from any recognised university with at least Bachelor’s degree in any field and worked for at least 10 years in the establishment, development, conservation, promotion and development of the film industry can apply. Moreover, anyone who has spent 20 years in the film industry by passing the proficiency certificate level can also apply.
However, anyone found guilty of corruption, money laundering, human trafficking, wildlife smuggling, moral disgrace, or criminal offense are not eligible to apply.
Likewise, those blacklisted as per the prevailing laws, those who are removed from the blacklist but not completed three years and are working on a contract agreement with a public body and do not have a good mental balance are also not eligible for the post.
After the death of Bhattarai various activities related to film have been halted.
The Film Development Board (FDB) was established on 30 June 2000 by the government of Nepal.
