Kathmandu, Jan. 12: Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi has said that successful implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign is one of his top priorities.
Addressing a press meet organized at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) today, the newly appointed Health Minister Tripathi shared that the policy-level preparation for the procurement of the vaccines has been completed and that the remaining works too will be expedited.
“Vaccination and health equipment have also become a political issue, but the government is committed to procuring vaccines at the earliest. As COVID-19 vaccines are produced only in limited countries, we are maintaining close links with these governments and moving things forward,” he said.
The government has been holding talks with the ambassadors of Russia, India and the United Arab Emirates to Nepal in regard to the COVID-19 vaccine, added Minister Tripathi.
“We are mobilizing all possible channels and possibilities,” said Minister Tripathi, assuring that the government would provide vaccines to the people in a just manner.
He also said that preparation was ongoing to set up 16,000 vaccination centres and manage over 5,000 staffs to be mobilized for the vaccination.
