By A Staff Reporter , Kathmandu, Apr. 22 : A collection of poem ‘Ajammari Aksharaharu' of poet and lyricist Mahesh Babu Timalsina has been made public.
The collection of poems in Nepali and English was unveiled by poets Gopal Parajuli and Dinesh Adhikari at a function held in New Baneshwor on Tuesday.
After launching the book, the speakers said that the collection of poems could be used to express the worldview, the sense of age and the sense of society. Commenting on the poems, Professor Laxman Gautam said, “Poems do not explain, but indicate.”
Similarly, poet Mahesh Poudyal said that signs of haste were noticed in the editing of the poetry published in English, but added that the collection is dominated by powerful poems.
“Influence of idealism is more visible in the anthology but at the same time there are a lot of fascinating poems in it,” said Poudyal.
Presenter and poet Nawaraj Lamsal, on the other hand, said that the identity of the creator would be different, adding that a different craft and style could be seen in Mahesh Babu’s poetry as a poet.
Similarly, poet Dinesh Adhikari said that life of letter would last long.
Poet Mahesh Babu Timalsina, on the other hand, said that he had tried to express his feelings in simple language, leaving it to the readers to decide whether those feelings were poetry or not.
“I thought I wrote poetry in simple language. But even my son did not understand 25 per cent of the meaning. That is why it has been translated into English along with Nepali so that new generation readers could understand this,” said the poet.
The poem written in Nepali has been translated by Muktinath Ghimire. The two separate volumes of anthology are published by Kangaroo Creations.
