Technology Eases Life

Smriti Regmi

We cannot imagine today’s world without technology. Imagine what happens when there is no
vehicle, television, mobile, computer and other modern gadgets. Technology is the set of knowledge, skills, experiences and techniques through which humans change, transform and use the environment in order to create tools, machines, products and services that meet human needs and desires.
It has given us a different device like mobile, computer, tablet, etc. It makes our life easy as we can transfer money instantly wherever we are when we have an order. Technology also makes whole the world connected. We can share the information within a second or so with our relatives and friends who are far from us.
Technology has changed how we pay bills and money, transfer money in a bank account. Due to the advancement in technology, we can also pay the bills of electricity, internet, television and telephone online. We can transfer money in others bank accounts using different app like eSewa, khalti, prabhupay, phonepay. We can recharge our cell phone, book flight and bus tickets.
Technology such as IOT safety devices is useful to senior citizens and people with disabilities. Such devices are best for keeping them safe at homes. One of the examples is a fall detection technology. Through wearables or floor and bed sensors, small devices are capable of knowing when someone falls. Once these sensors go off, caregivers are alerted through intercoms or mobile alerts.
Technology is rapidly evolving to help the elderly people and improve productivity and wellbeing for one and all. Some of the latest innovations for senior citizens include medical alert smart watches, touch-screen systems, and wearable activity trackers. Technology not only makes our life easy but also saves our time.
It is rapidly changing in automobile, too. Nowadays automobile includes cameras, rear mounted radar, GPS, voice-guided navigation, hands-free note taking, free text message, automatic high beam control, airbags, etc. Many apps are developed for drivers for safe driving like locating a gas station, smart apps for drivers like hands-free note taking, immediate information after an accident which helps safely driving.
Despite having many advantages, technology has drawbacks, too. There has been a growing tendency among people to remain socially isolated. Individuals are found spending more energy and time playing computer games and making friends in social media. But ironically, they do not know about their relatives, neighbours and communities. These days children hardly cooperate with their friends and play games with them. Instead, they are so addicted to gadgets like cell phone and laptop that they do not know how their time is passing. Such activities leave them less engaged with physical activities.
What we need to do is analyse the advantages and disadvantages of technology and use it for our benefits. The information technology is very useful for learning. Spending time by playing games on computer or cell phone and being inactive is negative aspect. However, we cannot stay away from technology nowadays. So, we must use technology for our benefits.
