Kathmandu, Aug. 15: Ten students studying at the Oscar International College, College of Film Studies Nepal will receive the Bursary Award from the Singapore Film Studio.
On the occasion of the establishment day of the college, an agreement was inked with the Infinite Studios of Singapore to give awards to 10 students studying at the college this year, said the Principal of the Oscar College and film director Binod Poudel.
According to Principal Poudel, a scholarship of Rs. 35,000 was being provided by the college to the students studying in the third year.
However, from this year, the first, second and third year students will also be able to receive the award which is being distributed by the studio under the title of Bursary Award.
Poudel said that the scholarship worth Rs. 17,500 will be distributed to four students each of the first and second years and to two of the third year.
The scholarship will be provided only to the neediest students, Poudel added. Infinite Studios and Oscar College have been collaborating since 2016.
The college and the studio have agreed to cooperate with each other in other matters as well.
Oscar College also marked its establishment day on Thursday. Principal Poudel said that the college, which was established 16 years ago, has come to its present state after going through various ups and downs.
“When this college started, the psychology of Nepali society was not positive towards film and its study, but today, we have noticed a big change in this perception,” he said
We have forgotten not only the old sorrows but also become more enthusiastic when we see the students who have come out of the college today and have made Nepal proud in home and abroad through their films, added Poudel.
