Makwanpur, Jan.5: A stone sculpture workshop-2077 is being held at Jyoti Secondary School, Bhalukhola, Harnamad, in Hetauda Sub Metropolitan City -18.
In the workshop, 10 artists have created tangible and intangible sculptures on 11 stones.
The workshop has begun on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the school and the statues made on stones will be kept in the school for another eight days.
The school plans to teach fine arts in both formal and informal ways from the next academic session.
According to artist Laxman Bhujel, they are planning to make Makwanpur district an art hub.
Bhujel said that they had a plan to make sculptures on a public land along the road from Bhaise to Daman and Palung with the help of Thaha Municipality. Discussions are underway to make sculptures from Bhaise to Hetauda, he added.
Harka Ramtel, chairperson of the school management committee, said that such art workshops and promotion of art also help in teaching and learning.
Local and national artists, including Rajan Kafle, Raju Pithakote, Gangadhar Saru, Kubir Dewan, Ramchandara Pundit, Laxman Bhujel, Man Bahadur Bal, Om Bhakta Bhandari, Sunita Lopchan and Babula Waiba participated in the workshop.
