Kathmandu, Aug : 2 Sakshat Pant, a ninth grader of Gyanodaya Bal Batika, released his first rap video song titled ‘Tara Ma Dalit’ on Saturday.
The 14-year-old singer has used rap music as a tool against the existing practice of untouchability that denies social equality to Dalits.
The song has been inspired by Navaraj BK of Jajarkot, who was killed in caste-based discrimination of West Rukum in May this year. The song is an ima gination of the cruelty by so-called upper caste people against a Dalit boy and conveys strongly that the lives of Dalits matter.
“As a boy born and brought up in a non-Dalit family who was taught both at home and school that all people are born equal, the killing of Navaraj disturbed me very badly. It made me a self-declared activist against discrimination,” said Sakshat.
After this song, singer Sakshat wants to continue to voice against different forms of social equality existing in our society.
While Sakshat himself is the lyricist of the song, singer Aditi Adhikari has lent to the chorus. The music is composed by Aman Pradhan and directed by Rahul Pradhan.
