Kawasoti, Oct. 3: Construction of nine health post buildings in nine wards of Madhyabindu Municipality in East Nawalparasi is now moving in full pace.
Mayor Chandra Bahadur Rana informed that the municipality had expedited infrastructure construction to establish basic health posts in nine of 14 wards, which lack government-provided health facilities.
The health posts are being constructed as per the government policy of providing health facilities in every ward, he added.
Basic health post buildings are being constructed at 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13 wards of the Madhyabindu Municipality. Currently, health posts are in operation in 2, 4, 10 and 14 wards while Chormara Primary Health Centre is in Ward No. 7.

The municipality’s engineer Madhav Devkota said that a contract agreement was signed with Neupane Multipurpose Bharatpur in April last fiscal year to complete the construction of the building within nine months.
The municipality had called for a contract agreement for a Rs. 4.32 million for each building and a contract agreement was signed with Neupane Multipurpose for the construction, according to which each building will cost anywhere between Rs. 2.7 million and 2.4 million, Devkota informed.

Earlier, the municipality had prepared a contract agreement for the construction of the buildings by calling for a contract agreement, but it was cancelled at the last minute and a new process had started. Due to this, there has been some delay in the construction of the building, Devkota said.
The municipality has already appointed one ANM, one CMA and one office support staff in each under-construction basic health centre.

He said that they are currently working at various health centres within the municipality. Birthing centres are also in operation in the three existing health posts in the municipality.
Rana said that the municipality has initiated a process to upgrade the Chormara Primary Health Centre at Madhyabindu -7 Chormara into a 15-bed hospital. Works are underway to upgrade the buildings of Nawalpur Health Post and Nayabelani Health Post including their labs.
