Kathmandu, Jan. 12: Nepali Army on Monday inaugurated Prithvi Narayan Shah Study Centre at the Nepali Army Headquarters, Bhadrakali, on the occasion of the Prithvi Jayanti and National Unity Day-2077 BS.
The centre was inaugurated by Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Purnachandra Thapa and historians -- Jagaman Gurung, Tri Ratna Manandhar and others -- at a special ceremony held at Jangi Adda in Bhadrakali this morning.
The army said that the centre had important information, including paintings reflecting the times of Prithvi Narayan Shah.
On the occasion, Chief of Army Staff Thapa saluted and paid homage his statue erected on the premises of the Army Headquarters, according to Brigadier General and spokesperson of Nepali Army Shantosh Ballave Poudyal.
The Army Headquarters also organised a nationwide Poetry Competition 2077. A total of 40 poems were shortlisted for the competition. Of these, best 30 poems were recited in the auditorium hall of the Valley Division Headquarters on Sunday.
On the same day, certificates and prizes were distributed to the best poems.
