Kathmandu, Oct. 9: The Nepal Police Headquarters have warned public to not use its uniform without receiving a prior permission. Issuing a statement on Thursday, the headquarters informed that permission was a must before using its uniform for any form of contents.
The statement came at a time when Nepal Police’s uniform can be seen used by artists in different digital contents. According to the headquarters, it is illegal to use their uniform without the department’s consent.
Stating that the misuse of their uniform in movies, teleseries, short movies, prank videos, musical videos, TikTok videos and stage programs among others have caught their attention, Nepal Police has given three clarifications regarding their uniform’s use.
Nepal Police has clarified that permission should be received from the headquarters department of communication by providing the purpose of its use.
“Anyone willing to use Nepal Police’s uniform for their contents should at first provide their purpose and ask for permission at the headquarters. There is a board which will review the script of the respective content and the use of uniform in it. They will then decide whether or not to allow the uniform’s use,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kuber Kadayat, central police spokesperson.
The headquarters further requests all the public to not use Nepal Police uniform without the permission.
“If anyone if found performing such activities, they will be brought under prevailing legal action,” reads the statement.
According to the officials at Nepal Police, they have already begun investigation over the contents where their uniform was used without permission.
“We are investigating over the earlier contents where our uniform has been used without permission. We will take necessary steps following the investigation results,” said SSP Kadayat.
