Kathmandu, Aug. 15 : Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has started production of concrete electricity poles from Tankisinuwari in Morang.
The test production of concrete poles has been started after completing the construction of concrete pole plant under NEA's Engineering Services Directorate.
The plant will produce 8, 9 and 11 metre poles used for power distribution.
The plant, constructed at a cost of Rs. 145 million, has an annual pole production capacity of 33,580 units.
Manoj Silwal, Deputy Executive Director of the Engineering Services Directorate, inspected the test product on Friday and directed the project management to start production at full capacity on a regular basis.
He mentioned that bringing poles from far away would save transportation cost and time after the production of poles starts from the plant.
According to project chief Parmar Dhirsen, the trial production was delayed due to the restriction order enforced for the prevention and control of COVID-19 and the delay in the arrival of goods and technicians from India.
He informed that the plant would run at full capacity in a few days if there was no technical problem in the test production.
The poles produced by the plant will be supplied mainly to the districts of Provinces 1 and 2.
NEA is currently producing concrete poles from Kotre in Tanahun and Amalekhgunj in Parsa while a plant is under construction in Lamki in Kailali.
