Kathmandu, Jan. 5: Nepali Congress has announced further protest programme against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HOR), growing corruption, failure of the government to control the COVID-19 pandemic and bad governance.
A Central Working Committee meeting of the party on Sunday decided to protest against the dissolution of the House of Representatives by the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) government led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli terming it ‘unconstitutional’ and ‘undemocratic’.
The party scheduled protests and mass meetings in 330 State Assembly constituencies on January 9, similar programmes in 753 local level on January 16 and in 6,743 wards of all local levels on January 21, read the statement.
The meeting also decided to give authority to the District Committee to fix protest programmes as per local situation and need.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba at party office, Sanepa of Lalitpur on Sunday concluded the House dissolution was authoritarian, tyrannical and autocratic and condemnable move and it was against democratic norms, values and constitutional provision.
The statement said the move was a ploy to further push the country towards instability, uncertainty, anarchism, failure and demolish the Federal Democratic Republic Constitution.
The party said it would centralised all its initiatives to bring the country in the right track by protecting Federal Democratic Republic system and constitution.
The party decided to submit active membership list with necessary document and fee to the central office by February 12.
