Kathmandu, Jan. 27: Nepali Congress on Tuesday announced further protest programmes against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
A Central Working Committee meeting of the party decided to hold more protest programmes concluding that its earlier nationwide peaceful demonstrations were successful.
According to its decision, the party`s sister organisations will jointly hold protest rallies and mass meetings in all 77 districts on February 1. Likewise, its well-wisher organisations will hold similar programmes in all districts on February 6, and the district committees of the party will hold protest rallies and mass meetings in their respective district headquarters.
The party informed in its statement that the meeting concluded that its earlier protests launched against the unconstitutional and undemocratic dissolution of the HOR, authoritarian activities of the government, corruption and the government failure in handling the COVID-19 pandemic were a success with a huge participation of people.
The party also condemned the use of force against the Monday’s demonstration of civil society. It said protesting against any unconstitutional move was the constitutional rights of the people.
The party said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli failed to maintain the image and prestige of his post by making irresponsible statements.
The meeting also decided to extend the tenure of its sister organisations, which have failed to hold their general conventions, by
six months.
