The Shadows Nepal is a hard rock outfit from Narayangadh, Chitwan that needs no introduction to Nepali music fans across the globe.
The band has been actively performing shows, doing tours and releasing singles every now and then for more than 22 years.
The band first thrilled their local fans with debut album Suna Hamro Awaz, shortly after which their primary vocalist and founder parted ways. Then the band introduced their new front-man Swapnil Sharma and released their most popular album Hidne Manche Ladcha, which enthralled the music scene and gained them more recognition and following.
They topped charts with their rock anthems like Prakriti, Ma, Bhatkeko Kotha and even scored Hits FM award for the best band, best music and best performance in the year 2006.
This was followed by a series of singles released one after other until their 2014 entry The Shadows Nepal EP2014, which consisted of three tracks and astonishing music videos that were created in collaboration with Fuzz Factory Productions.
And on June 2019 they released their recent full-length album, K Payis Nepali, in sponsorship with Excelsia College. Excelsia is music and performing arts based academy in Sydney, Mr. Bobby Abraham the director of marketing and public relations is credited for helping the band financially with the album recording and while on tour. The follow up album launch tour was also quite successful as the band played in major venues across the country and also in Dubai.
Their first single off the album 'Balatkari Lai Fasi' was well-acclaimed by critics and fans, however, their second released music video for the album title track did not quite live up to the mark as many viewed it as an exaggerated sarcastic attempt gone wrong.
Nonetheless such minor mishaps can't hinder the work flow of these gigantic outfits and so the band went back on track immediately with many live performances, online interaction with their fans and their uplifting enthusiasm.
Even throughout this pandemic the band members have not failed to reach out to their fans by re-creating online versions of their classic hits, live interviews, their frontman Swapnil taking on the quarantine challenge of creating one song per day since the beginning of the lockdown and recently releasing yet another music video for their track Aama.
Released on 23rd April Thursday on the special occasion of mother's day, the song reflects a deeply emotional lyrical experience that the band wants do dedicate to all generous and nurturing mothers of the world.
Recorded by Geoff Lee of Zen Studios, Sydney the track was mixed and mastered by Rohit Shakya of Fuzz Factory and the video was conceptualized by Sulav Singh Chhetri, the art works were contributed by Swornim Shakya while the animation works were done by Rajeev Maharjan. Swapnil Sharma on vocals, Prakash Rasaily on guitars, Amit Pradhan on bass, Sujan Manandhar on guitars, Sahil Risal on drums and Samir Shrestha on photography together form The Shadows Nepal.
