Kaski, Apr. 17: The government has appealed to the students of 14 districts, including Kaski, not to go to school by classifying them as coronavirus-infected districts. However, schools there are operating complying with all precautionary measures.
A meeting of District Covid-19 Crisis Management Committee (DCCMC) held on Friday decided to not close the schools immediately, Narayan Subedi, District Education Coordination Unit head, said.
Prem Prasad Sharma Subedi, Private and Boarding School Organisation Nepal (PABSON) Kaski president, said that closing schools was not the last resort and that a meeting with stakeholders of education had concluded to operate schools by following health standards for now. Hemanta Adhikari, president of National Private and Boarding School Association of Nepal (NPABSAN) Kaski, said that the closure of schools had caused a huge damage to the education sector in the last year. Therefore, closing them is neither prudent nor practical, Adhikari added.
Echoing Adhikari, Thaneshwar Gautam, Chief District Officer of the district, said that the school would not be closed immediately.
He also requested all to help in running the school by following health safety measures which is the duty of all citizens in the face of raging pandemic.
In Kaski, 111, 775 students are studying at 532 private and community schools.
