Kathmandu, Oct. 23: Bishnu Majhi, the highest-paid singer in the field of Nepali music, has received Rs 200,000 for her song Mayalu Timi Mutuma Chhau.
Singer Majhi, who has been working at Rs. 100,000 for a long time, has received Rs. 200,000 for this song.
Singer of the song Rajan Gurung said that they paid Rs. 200,000 as singer Majhi recently increased her singing fee.
“Of late, she has been charging Rs. 200,000 for a song, therefore, we paid the amount as we agreed to pay her the salary according to demand of the market and the quality of her voice,” said singer Gurung.
Basanta Thapa, the musician of the song Mayalu Timi Mutuma Chhau, which was released on Wednesday, said that she had paid Rs. 100,000 for her previous hit song Salko Paat Tapari Huni.
Musician Thapa said, “Until two years ago, her rate was Rs.100, 000 per song, but now it has doubled, and still she is getting offers for new songs. Probably, her demand in market is high and she is getting more offers despite hiking her fee rate.”
Ashish Abhiral, the arranger of the song, also argued that singer Majhi’s remuneration has increased due to the rising demand of her songs in the market.
Singer Majhi has not become public yet. No other material other than a picture of Majhi is available on the internet. She has been saying that she did not go public in her own interest.
In the video of the song, singer Rajan Gurung, musician Basanta Thapa, Rajni Gurung and Sumitra Tamang have danced. This song is directed by Sunil Chhetri and filmed by Durga Poudel and edited by Navin Gharti Magar.
