Kathmandu, Jan. 7: The Embassy of Israel has set up Research and Development Hub and High-Tech classroom model at National Innovation Center Nepal (NIC) in Kathmandu.
Aiming at developing and exchanging innovative ideas among the researchers, the government of Israel has established full-fledged Israeli-styled high-tech classroom consisting of laptops, webcams, digital display screen, in-built sound system, air-conditioning, glass boards, furniture and other necessary equipment.

The high-tech classroom was inaugurated on Thursday by Hanan Goder, ambassador of Israel to Nepal, Tal Shvartsman, deputy chief of the mission, and Dr. Mahabir Pun, chairperson of the innovation centre.
There was a presentation on how the classes will be run and used as research and development hub in Nepal. Likewise, a virtual meeting was also organised with the parallel organisation of Israel named Yazamut 360 Entrepreneurship Center, Ben Gurion University of the Negev.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Goder said that the improvement in our lifestyle can only be done through research in science and this is exactly what led Israel to progress. “The hub is a seed for flourishing ideas in the near future, as Nepali researchers and citizens can now invent great ideas for the benefit of the nation.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Mahabir Pun said, “Israel is desert in geography, but fertile in innovation. Nepal is opposite of it. We can learn a lot of innovations from Israel, he added.
Addressing the function, deputy chief of the mission Tal Shvartsman said if such high tech classroom were established in remote schools, they might not face a shortage of subject teachers because a few number of teachers can teach many students through the use of technology.
