Humla, Feb. 11 : Farmers in Burause, an area in Ward 4 of Simkot Rural Municipality, have been highly benefitted from the greenhouse farming.
After the greenhouse helped farmers grow several off-season vegetables, the system has become popular among the farmers in the area.
Panchamukhi Dadhedaha Agricultural Cooperative in Burause has also made it compulsory for its members to adopt greenhouse farming system.
“Spinach and coriander grow properly in the greenhouse and it has been a great source of income for us. We are following the system for the past four years,” said Chhabdan Lama, a member of the cooperatives and a farmer.
The product of Burause is also helping meet the demand of Simkot, the district headquarters, as 35 members of the cooperatives have constructed greenhouse system this season.
Each family is earning in between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 100,000 every month by selling spinach and coriander. Every day, the farmers collect the spinach and sell it at Rs. 40 per bundle.
Praising the farmers for cultivating vegetables in greenhouse, Good Neighbours International Nepal, an organisation, had provided agriculture equipment to the locals.
Meanwhile, the farmers are happy to be able to support their daily lives through the income.
