Kathmandu, Dec. 4: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta said on Thursday that the ministry would adopt the genuine suggestions made by the private sector for the economic development of the country.
Welcoming the newly-elected officials of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) at the Ministry today, Minister Bhatta said that the Ministry would soon organise a special programme in the participation of FNCCI and other business associations and government bodies to make the Ministry’s planning effective and result-oriented.
He said that the government would move ahead with the private sector for achieving the goal of prosperity as the role of the private sector was vital in the national economy.
On the occasion, FNCCI president Shekhar Golchha informed about his future action plan for strengthening the overall economy.
He said that the work of preparing the "vision document" of the country had been taken forward with the help of international organisations and after their preparations, they would be implemented with the approval by the government and that a huge amount of capital flowing to India could be stopped by reviving the established export-oriented industries of Nepal such as garment, pashmina and carpet, which had gone out of business due to various reasons.
He further said that the ministry had also requested for coordination for the implementation of the facilities provided for small entrepreneurs through monetary policy, adding that due to double taxation, industry and business in the locality had become more problematic.
Stressing on the need of reopening of the long-closed film industries without further ado, he reminded all to follow safety protocols. “FNCCI should create a conducive environment for those who want to invest in the current crisis, bring in special package for export promotion and streamline the registration process of small and medium enterprises,” he said.
Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Baikuntha Aryal said that the ministry had always been working with the FNCCI and private sector according them high priority.
FNCCI Senior Vice President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Vice Presidents Dinesh Shrestha, Anjan Shrestha, Ram Chandra Sanghai and Treasurer Sukuntalal Hirachan and Director General of the Department of Industry Jiv Lal Bhushal, among others, attended the programme.
