On September 8, 2019, the Federal Urban Development Project had awarded a contract to Phuljor Joshi JV Construction Services to construct the city hall within two years.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the construction company extended the deadline by six months due to COVID-19 pandemic, said Jhapat Bahadur Thapa, project chief of Urban Development Federal Project Implementation Unit, Kaski.
Thapa said that the construction company, which had been extended the deadline till January 24, had handed over the city hall ahead of the deadline.
Following the construction of the city hall, locals of the municipality are now free from the burden to organise programmes and assembly in open space, said Thapa.
He said that he was happy to hand over the city hall to the municipality on time.
The construction company handed over the building to Galyang Municipality Chief Bhuparaj Adhikari. Urban Development Federal Project Implementation Unit Pokhara has also completed the construction of city halls in Bhirkot and Chapakot municipalities.
Noth Prasad Khanal, a construction entrepreneur, said Phuljor Joshi JV Construction Services had already completed 90 per cent of the construction work of the city halls, for which contract was awarded to the company.
Stating that the construction company had the responsibility to complete the construction on time, Khanal said that the project would be handed over to the implementation unit within some time.
