Import from Tatopani border growing

Imports from Tatopani border point, a major customs point between Nepal and China, have become easier. At present, up to 20 cargo containers are entering Nepal from China daily, said Narad Gautam, Chief of Tatopani Dry Port Customs Office. Before the Tihar festival, only eight containers had been entering Nepal from China through this border point.

Substation construction in final stage of completion

The construction of 132/33/ 11 kV substation in Banganga Municipality-7 of Kapilvastu and Sandhikharka of Arkhakhanchi has reached the final stage. The construction work is underway with the aim of bringing Motipur of Kapilvastu and Sandhikharka of Arghakhanchi into operation by end November and end December, respectively, according to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

NRB treasury bill auction

According to the Monetary Management Department, it has issued the 91 days treasury bill of Rs. 2 billion and 182 days treasury bill of Rs. 9.8 billion. It has informed that out of the total offered amount 15 per cent is reserved for non-competitive bidders.

Hongshi's plant connected to national power grid

The power supplied through the national transmission grid has reached Hongshi Cement Industry, which is operating in Sardi of Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) in partnership between Chinese and Nepali investors. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) supplied electricity to the industry from Saturday through the Bardaghat-Sardi 132 kV transmission line from the substation in Bardaghat, said a press statement of NEA.

Central bank issues new directive on interest rate

As per recent update, the BFIs can only change maximum of 10 per cent in the interest rate in average (except for call deposit) by calculating the average and minimum interest rate released in the previous month. If the spread rate was more than the given cap, the other rates should be adjusted by making a basis either to the maximum and minimum interest rate.

NRB liquidity injection outweighs mops-up as excess liquidity depletes

According to the Monetary Management Department data in the month of November, NRB injected the liquidity of Rs. 180 billion through the Repo, Rs. 47.14 billion through the Overnight Repo and Rs. 1,649.3 billion through Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF).  On the other side, it mopped up Rs. 28.35 billion through the Reverse Repo and Rs. 31.65 billion through deposit collection.

Avalanche in mustang: Over 150 mountain cows go missing

KMC spends only 38 % of capital budget

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has spent only 37.9 per cent development budget in the last Fiscal Year 2020/21. Of the Rs. 15.56 billion budget other than the social security funds, it could spend only Rs. 5.71 billion, including 37.9 per cent capital and 34.87 per cent current expenditure, and 27.23 per cent operational expenditure.

Lending surges amid weakening deposit
