By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov. 15: Instrument Landing System (ILS) is being installed at the Gautam Buddha International Airport in Lumbini making it the first airport with ILS in Nepal.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is making preparations to install the ILS at the airport.
According to CAAN, no other airport in Nepal including the TIA, the country's only international airport to date, has such technology.
Dadhiram Niraula, a senior pilot, said that the ILS was not installed in other airports due to geographic conditions and technological complexities.
Raj Kumar Chhetri, Director General of CAAN, informed that new airports which are under construction will have ILS. Both the Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara Regional International Airport will have the ILS.
