Kaski, March 20 : A vaccination drive against measles-rubella disease is taking place in Kaski from March 23 to April 4 under the National Immunization Programme.
At an interaction organized on Thursday to impart information about the drive, it was shared that 50, 260 children below five would be immunized in two phases of the drive.
The first phase will be in place at the wards of Machhapuchhre, Rupa, Annapurna and Modi rural municipality as well as previous Village Development Committees integrated into Pokhara metropolis from March 23-30 while the second phase will be placed in the wards of Metropolitan city from April 2-4, shared in-charge of District Health Office, Baburam Acharya.
Total 420 vaccination stations and 647 immunizers will be mobilized in the campaign.
Each immunizer was provided with training; women health volunteers and ward people's representatives were oriented and invitation card to the families having children were extended during the campaign, he further informed.
"Immunization coordination committees have been formed at state, district, metropolis and ward levels to make the campaign a huge success with high coverage", Acharya said.
Likewise, a team of doctors has been formed under the leadership of child specialist Dr Ramchandra Bastola to resolve the problems seen in children following immunization. ---
