By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 30: Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has pointed out the need to utilise press freedom for the interest of the working class people.

"Media is the vehicle for the formation of the people's perception. The class struggle continues as long as classes exist in society. Media is important for every class. Pro-people journalists should utilise press freedom to raise issues of the working class people," Minister Bhusal said congratulating the newly elected committees of the Press Center, Nepal, Pratishthan Pradesh's district chapters here on Saturday.

On a different note, she said that the five-party alliance was made with agreement on safeguarding nationality, democracy, and constitution and that regression was defeated to some extent. "A further defeat to the regressive forces that dissolved the House of Representatives twice would be given during the upcoming local election."

Minister Bhusal, who is also a standing committee member of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center), said that her party was concretely one with regard to its ideology.

She urged the media persons to understand that republicanism, federalism, secularism and inclusive democracy are all the fruits of people's war and that there is no point in being hesitant to mention it.

Expressing best wishes for the successful conclusion of the conference, Press Center, Nepal, central chairman, Maheshwor Dahal said that the corporate media in the hand of the rich people were still able in setting agenda and the pro-people media houses had to take risks to change the society.

Bishnu Sapkota Jugal, a member of the PCN central coordination committee, pointed at the need for raising pro-people issues so that the interests of the working class people are not neglected.

The conference elected a 35-member committee of the PCN newspaper district chapter under the chairpersonship of Ambika Paudel, a 15-member committee of PCN Radio district chapter under the chairmanship of Hari Dulal, a 28-member committee of PCN television district chapter under the chairmanship of Rabindra Paudel, and a 53-member committee of PCN Online district chapter under the chairmanship of Santosh Bhattarai
