Jhapa, Nov 29 : Two reality shows from the US, Mero Dance Cup USA-4’ and ‘Mero Voice Cup USA-2’ were jointly inaugurated at Beldangi Refugee Camp in Damak, Jhapa, on Saturday.
The reality shows were jointly inaugurated by Chief Minister of Province-1 Rajendra Rai, President of Intra National Welfare and Support Foundation of America Dilli Adhikari, actor Dilip Rayamajhi, actress Keki Adhikari, singer Pramodh Kharel, choreographer Shankar BC, Narman Rai and others amid a grand ceremony.
It is informed that both reality shows will be auditioned in the US this January and the forms of both the reality shows were also opened.
Inaugurating both the reality shows, Chief Minister Rajendra Rai said that these two programmes were organised to preserve the Nepali language and culture and to attract the new generation of Nepalis living in the United States and Canada to Nepali language.
He said that everyone, no matter where they are living, should preserve Nepali language and culture wherever they are.
Chief Minister Rai also promised to hold talks with the central government on the management of the remaining Bhutanese refugees in Nepal. At the same time, Minister Rai also inaugurated the ‘Senior Citizens Day Care Center’ sought by the Foundation at Beldangi Camp.
More than three dozen artistes from Kathmandu presented their art at the inauguration ceremony on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, President of Intra National Welfare and Support Foundation of America Dilli Adhikari said that the foundation had been running Mero Dance Cup USA for four years and Mero Voice Cup USA for two years.
The inaugural programme was held in Nepal this time to spread the competition worldwide and to have participations of Nepali and Nepali speakers in the United States and Canada, said Adhikari.
“Even though we do not have Nepali citizenship, this is our identity, so we have been organising this competition with importance for the preservation of Nepali language and culture,” said Adhikari.
He also expressed his pain as a refugee in the past. He also said that Nepali-speaking Bhutanese refugees in Jhapa should either be given Nepali citizenship or the government of Nepal should provide assistance for third country resettlement. He also demanded that the government should arrangement to send the refugees to Bhutan if they want to return to Bhutan.
