Okhaldhunga, Dec. 11: Khijidemba Rural Municipality of Okhaldhunga is currently tarring the 55-kilometre Likhu-Bhusinga road.
The rural municipality has taken upon itself in laying down the blacktopped road under the federal supplementary budget.
In order to blacktop the road from Jili, Ragani to Khijichandeshwori to Khijiphalate, the rural municipality called for tenders on December 8.
Despite its limited budget, Khijidemba Rural Municipality has decided to move on with the road construction by utilising the federal supplementary budget, according rural nunicipality chairman Bed Bahadur Roka.
Roka said it would be great if the government's policy of blacktopping at least one main road in remote villages was implemented and addressed to the most remote localities.
According to chairman Roka, the tender for paving the 55 kilometre long road with asphalt has been opened as a multi-year plan to be completed in phases.
Public transport had come into operation after the rural municipality had upgraded the Likhu-Bhusinga road earlier.
As of now, Araniko and Sanyukta Transport Busses can be seen plying on the road on a daily basis.
Right now there are super busses operating in three places from Kathmandu to Khijiphalate, Ragani and Khijikati.
Preparations are underway to operate public buses from Kathmandu to Rawadolu-Bhusiga for further service expansion, for which the rural municipality has also called for tenders to improve the two road sections, Khijichandeshwori-Khijikati and Khijiphalate-Rawadolu-Bhusinga.
