Kathmandu, July 25: It isn’t time to pack in those umbrellas just yet because rain is still in the forecast.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DoHM), Nepal is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall till Monday.
The Flood Forecasting Division of the DoHM has also warned people living in Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung, Khotang, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu districts of Province 1, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Nuwakot and Dhading districts of Bagmati, Gorkha, Lamjung and Myagdi of Gandaki, Rukum East of Lumbini, Rukum West, Dailekh and Kalikot of Karnali and Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura, Doti and Kailali of Sudurpashchim to watch out for flash floods in nearby rivers and streams.
Meanwhile, one person was injured in Kavrebhir, Annapurna Rural Municipality–3 on Saturday, when he was struck by a falling rock. As per the information provided by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 28-year-old Bishal Gharti was injured when a rock fell on the motorcycle he was travelling on. Gharti was the pillion rider.
Similarly, a landslide damaged six houses in Bhusinga, Khijidemba Rural Municipality–8, on Saturday morning. Two of the houses were completely destroyed while four were partially damaged.
The residents of Kathmandu were also not left untouched by the monsoon this week. On Friday night, following a bout of heavy rain, the Dhobi Khola broke its banks and entered the homes of people living along the Dhobi Khola corridor. Locals informed that the water inundated houses from Anamnagar to Dhumbarahi.
Going by the photos on social media sites, the water had still not completely receded till Saturday afternoon.
