Kathmandu, Jan. 4: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) for cooperation between the two.
The MoU was signed by NEA Managing Director Kul Man Ghising and Executive Chairman of NAC Yubaraj Adhikari on Monday in the presence of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale and Secretary Maheshwor Neupane.
Now, NEA employees and their families will get a 15 per cent discount on international flights in the Corporation's flights. In order to get the exemption, the employee has to submit the recommendation letter of NEA along with the identity card, according to a press statement of NEA.
Only those who purchase tickets from the sales office of the Corporation will get the discount facility.
The NEA will get a 5-10 per cent discount depending on the quantity when transporting cargo from the destination of the Corporation.
The MoU said that NEA will issue circulars to its employees to travel internationally by the Corporation's planes whenever possible.
On the occasion, Minister Ale urged the management of the NAC to learn from the steps taken by the management to uplift the sinking NEA.
He said that a decision would be taken soon as the management of the NAC has prepared a business plan and submitted it to the steering committee on the issue of adding planes for international flights.
Secretary Neupane said that the management of the Corporation should make its services regular and reliable by standardising the success of NEA such as ending 18-hour load shedding and improving the financial and administrative condition of the loss-ridden organisation.
MD Ghising said that a circular would be issued immediately for the implementation of the provisions made in the MoU.
