By Gokul Parajuli, Biratnagar, Oct. 24: The main opposition party in Province 1 Nepali Congress (NC) and ruling party CPN (UML) have requested the provincial assembly secretariat to halt the meeting of the provincial assembly scheduled for today.
Preparations were being made to open discussions over the proposal placed by Chief Minister Bhim Prasad Acharya to obtain the vote of confidence from the assembly members today.
Right after the NC made an application demanding to postpone the assembly meeting, the ruling CPN-UML also filed an application at the provincial assembly secretariat to request the latter to halt today's session and call the next meeting for November 1.
In the application, NC has cited Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's visit to eastern Nepal today as the reason behind postponing the meeting. On the other hand, CPN-UML requested to postpone the meeting as it is holding various programmes before November 1.
