Kathmandu, July 4: The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has completed all the preparation to convert the Mahasnan Ghar, a three-storey bath house within the Pashupati premises, into a museum.
The devastating 2015 earthquake had severely damaged the bath house, and ever since then the decrepit building has been awaiting reconstruction. However, the project has been stalled for a long time and the COVID-19 restrictions have only further delayed the Mahasnan Ghar museum initiative.
“The museum will come into operation before the Dashain festival,” assured Pradeep Dhakal, Member Secretary of PADT. The renovation of the building, as per Dhakal, has already been completed.
The long-awaited museum is said to spread around an area of 10,000 square feet and will showcase several tangible and intangible cultural heritages, archaeological and historical objects, to reflect the long and illustrious legacy of the Pashupatinath.
Moreover, several paintings will adorn the museum walls, which, reportedly, will echo the vibe of several festivals observed in Pashupatinath.
The historical objects and other materials will be classified as per the study report, which has already been submitted by the research team. The items will be kept and spread across the three-storey building as per the classification made by the research team.
