Kathmandu, Jan 23: Two overhead bridges at Chabahil Chowk and Mitrapark in Kathmandu will be constructed.
Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya laid the foundation stone for the construct of two overhead bridges at the places amid a function today.
On the occasion, Mayor Shakya expressed the hope that the bridges would help ease traffic congestion and decrease road accidents. “The project is as per the demand of local people. It will be complete before the deadline with help and support of them,” he said.
Traffic jams at the southern part of Chabahil Chowk have been eased following the construction of an overhead bridge. So, this is expected at the northern side following the construction of a new bridge, he said. The project is expected to cost over Rs 13 million excluding VAT provided by the Metropolis.
The deadline for the project is June 15. Sabira Construction has been awarded the contract. Both the bridges will be 33 meters long and two meters wide each.
