Kathmandu, Dec. 5: Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' Friday said that monitoring of the activities of the security bodies under the ministry would be intensified. Speaking at the First Quarterly Review and Ministry level Development Problem Solving Committee meeting of the Fiscal Year 2077/78 at the ministry, Minister Thapa said, "Monitoring of subordinate units will be intensified."
The Home Minister directed the officials to expedite the work in the coming days stating that the expected achievement was not seen in the first quarter of the fiscal due to coronavirus and other reasons. The Ministry of Home Affairs has also set up separate monitoring teams headed by Joint Secretaries to monitor the Provincial Police Offices.
He said, "The budget allocated for some works has not been used, the budget for others was insufficient."
Minister Thapa directed the line officials to make a plan for the success of the second quarter by overcoming the current shortcomings.
Stating that guarantee of peace and security is an essential condition for achieving the goal of development and prosperity, Home Minister Thapa directed the subordinate bodies to formulate plans accordingly.
At the meeting, the policy, planning and programme division under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Immigration Department, National Identity Card and Registration Department, Prison Department and other agencies presented their progress reports of the first quarter.
