Kathmandu, Nov. 25: The first day examination of grade 12 was held peacefully following all health protocols amidst the fear of COVID-19 pandemic, the National Examinations Board (NEB) stated.
A total of 433,000 examinees from 4,105 schools across the country sat for the examinations. Out of them, only 17,000 examinees have appeared for the examination in the centres near their current residence while the rest did so from their own schools.
Krishna Sharma, Grade 12 examination controller of the NEB, said that all schools conducted the first day of examinations peacefully abiding by all safety protocols.
Meanwhile, according to our Humla correspondent, the first day examination of grade 12 was held peacefully there as well.
Amar Bahadur Shahi, headmaster of Mansarobar Namuna Secondary School, said they conducted the examinations keeping safety in mind.
Out of 148 examinees of the centre, the school kept only two examinees in a bench, Shahi informed.
Bishnu Bahadur Shahi, head of Education Development and Coordination Unit (EDCU), Humla informed that a total of 10 secondary schools of the district have the examinations centre for this year’s exams.
Schools, including Mahabauddha Secondary School, Namkha, Karnali Secondary School, Simkot, Mansarobar Model Secondary School, Simkot, Malika Secondary School, Kharpunath, have examinations centres and the examination there were also conducted peacefully.
According to our Baglung correspondent, examinations across the district was also held in peaceful manner.
Kushma Raj Upadhyay, district head of EDCU, informed that this year 3,599 examinees of grade 12 are appearing in the examinations from the district.
The examinations start from 8 am and lasts for one-and-a-half hour, and each subject carries 40 per cent of the full marks.
Of the remaining 60 per cent marks, 40 per cent will be added from the marks obtained in Grade 11 and 20 per cent from internal evaluation, according to the NEB. The examination will conclude on December 1.
The results of the examinations will be published one month after the completion of examinations, Sharma stated.
The examinations of Grade 12, previously scheduled for March, were put off due to COVID-19 pandemic.
