Kathmandu, Dec. 11: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasised on business unity and cooperation for the country’s economic development.
Congratulating the newly elected officials of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) at his official resident in Baluwatar on Wednesday evening, Prime Minister Oli assured that he was always ready for the assistance to be provided by the government.
He welcomed the action plan forwarded by the newly elected team of the federation for strengthening the country’s economic growth.
"You get involved in industry and business. We are ready to help you. I myself and the Ministry of Industry will help you as much as you want," said the Prime Minister, according to a press statement issued by the FNCCI.
He also urged them to work for the promotion of locally-made indigenous products and their export.
A delegation of FNCCI officials led by its president Shekhar Golchha said that the new FNCCI leadership was preparing a vision paper for building a respected private sector and a prosperous country.
President Golchaa informed that the federation was doing necessary homework with the help of experts to strengthen the overall economy as there was a big problem in the economic expansion of the country due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“Since the industries have remained shut down for a long time, the government should take appropriate steps in time and help them in addressing various complaints put forward by them, like issues of forced donations, lack of working environment and declining business confidence,” he said. Although the budget and monetary policy have addressed some of the demands of the entrepreneurs, most of them have not been implemented, he added, stressing on the need for effective implementation of the policy and programme as well as the need for a special revitalistion programme.
The meeting was attended by outgoing president of the federation Bhavani Rana, former president Pashupati Murarka, senior vice president Chandra Prasad Dhakal, vice presidents Dinesh Shrestha, Anjan Shrestha, Ram Chandra Sanghai and treasurer Sukuntalal Hirachan.
