Kathmandu, Feb. 5: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has instructed the new leadership of the Insurance Board (Beema Samiti) to make efforts to solve the problems facing the insurance sector and prove their tenure as a milestone in the sector.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-appointed chairperson of the Insurance Board Surya Prasad Silwal, Finance Minister Paudel directed them to study problems of the insurance sector and address them.
He said that the Ministry of Finance would coordinate and assist to solve the problems.
Finance Secretary Sishir Kumar Dhungana administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed chairman of the Board Silwal at an event organised at the Ministry of Finance.
Dhungana pointed out the need for maintaining credibility and making the insurance sector stronger, more capable and competitive.
Revenue Secretary Ram Sharan Pudasaini said that special emphasis should be laid on increasing access to insurance and maintaining good governance in the insurance sector.
Newly appointed chairman Silwal expressed his commitment to working for the betterment of the insurance sector.
