Kathmandu, Dec. 7: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) Sunday stated that the report of High Level National Education Commission-2075 that was made public Friday by 13 members of the commission themselves was not official.
The members released the report themselves after the government did not make it public yet.
Issuing a statement, the Ministry stated that its serious attention had been drawn to the use of the name of the Ministry and the logo of the government without its consent. In the statement, the Ministry informed that it had taken steps for legal action for illegal use of the official name.
The report was made public by the National Campaign for Education Nepal and the Global Action Nepal. The Commission having 25 members and chaired by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel had prepared the report and it was submitted to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on January 15, 2019.
The Ministry stated that it would not coordinate with National Campaign for Education Nepal and the Global Action Nepal in coming days and requested with all concerned bodies working in the field of education not to coordinate with them.
The 13 members of the commission including Bimal Phuyal, Shyam Shrestha, Dr. Bidyanath Koirala, Baburam Thapa, among others, released the report amidst a programme organized at Durbar High School in Kathmandu stating that it was their responsibility to ensure people's right to information.
The report aims to improve the quality of education in public schools and seeks to make private schools more service-oriented.
The commission members blamed that the National Education Policy-2076 BS did not incorporate the recommendations offered by the report which had demanded that the private sector should be gradually discouraged in the school education.
