By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Apr. 8: Radio Nepal has awarded Ramesh Dahal for writing the best lyrics for the modern song in the Nationwide Modern Song Competition organised on the occasion of its 71stannual anniversary recently. Lyricist Dahal had won the same award in 2009.
His lyrics ‘Batabharika Tagara Chhicholna Saku’ won the award. Its music was composed by Danney Niraula and Shirjana Guragain sang it in the competition. Radio Nepal had selected 31 songs from 50 received from all over Nepal.
Among the selected 31 songs, Dahal’s was declared as the excellent lyrics for the modern song in the final competition organised on March 31.
Likewise, Shankar Thapa (Smile) and Subhash Manal won the awards for the best music composition and singing respectively.
Each winner received a cash price of Rs. 25,000 and certificate. Singer Premdhoj Pradhan and Jeewan Sharma each were honoured with Rs. 51,000 for their contribution to the development of the Nepali music sector. Radio Nepal has been organising the nationwide modern song competition every year since 1965.
