Hetauda, July 13: Around 52 per cent paddy plantation of the season has been completed in Bagmati State.
In this peak time of paddy plantation, farmers of most districts of the state are now busy transplanting the major cereal crop.
According to the Ministry of Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of Bagmati State, paddy plantation in around 70,073 hectares of total 134,238 hectares of paddy filed has been completed so far.
Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Dolakha district are ahead of other districts in plantation in terms of percentage.
Anup Adhikari, information officer of the ministry, said that paddy plantation works were affected by the fears of COVID-19 and the area of paddy plantation would increase significantly by the end of Asar.
Of the 11,000 hectares of paddy field in Makawnpur district, plantation has been completed only in 4,400 hectares of land which is 40 per cent of the total paddy field.
Similarly, paddy plantation in 45 per cent of paddy field has been completed in Chitwan district. Chitwan has the largest area of paddy field in Bagmati State. Of the total 28,600 hectares of paddy plantation area in Chitwan, plantation has been over in only around 12,870 hectares so far.
Like in previous years, farmers are facing an acute shortage of chemical fertiliser during this rainy season.
Rasuwa is the district having the smallest area of paddy plantation in Bagmati State. Among all districts of the State, the lowest progress of paddy plantation was made in Sindhuli district.
Similarly, paddy plantation in 6,960 of 14,500 hectares of paddy field in Nuwakot district and in 448 of 1,093 hectares of paddy filed in Rasuwa completed.
Likewise, paddy plantation in 6,698 hectares of land in Kathmandu, 6,600 hectares of land in Kavreplanchok, 7,953 hectares in Sindhupalchok and 3,084 hectares in Ramechhap has been completed so far.
