Madhyapur wins ‘Asian Township Award’

Madhyapur Thimi Municipality has won this year’s ‘Asian Township Award 2020’ for revitalising heritage and culture of the municipality. This is the second time Nepal has won the prestigious award for conservation and revitalisation of the heritage of the city. Sugar mill begins paying farmers

Annapurna Sugar Mill in Dhankaul of Sarlahi district has started paying dues to sugarcane farmers. The mill has begun sending farmers’ dues for the last three-four years to their bank accounts from Sunday. It has informed the District Administrative Office that Rs. 8 million and Rs. 10.1 million was sent to the accounts on Sunday and Monday respectively. They have pledged to pay Rs. 10 million to the farmers on Tuesday, said Surendra Poudel, Chief District Officer of Sarhali.

NAST can now give command to nano satellite to capture image of earth from its ground

Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) is now able to give command to capture pictures of earth from the nano-satellite placed at its ground station. Recently, NAST has set up a new equipment called radio, which gives command to take photo of earth from its ground station. The task of setting up radio has completed on Monday and it started working from that day. Foreign policy underscores environmental diplomacy

Nepal has given high importance to climate change and mitigation of its impacts and minimisation of greenhouse gases in its recently launched Foreign Policy, 2020. It has included a separate article on the issue and 17-point strategy and action plan while reduction of climate change impacts is included as one of the key objectives of the policy which is said to be the first integrated document on the foreign affairs matters.
