Govt launches Urban Infrastructure project with WB support

Government has launched Nepal Urban Governance and Infrastructure Project with the financial support from the World Bank (WB). Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Dr. Ramesh Prasad Singh, and World Bank Operations Manager for Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka Lada Strelkova jointly launched the project on Wednesday. The four-year project is financed by the WB to promote sustainable urban development and to support post-COVID-19 economic recovery in strategic secondary cities.

Vaccination to all in 3 months: PM

Vaccination drive against COVID-19 kicked off across the country from Wednesday. Inaugurating the vaccination drive, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli committed to roll out the COVID-19 vaccines to all Nepalis free of cost within three months. He said, “No one will be deprived of vaccination. It will be administered free of cost. Necessary budget to purchase the essential vaccines has already been arranged.” He said that the immunisation drive was expected to complete within three months.

Cinema dialogue held in Ghandruk

Nepal Film Association, Kaski, organised a dialogue in Ghandruk on Tuesday to discuss cinema tourism and its potential in Nepal. Director and Actor Sudarshan Thapa and president of the Pokhara Tourism Council Gopi Bhattarai spoke at the event which was facilitated by journalist Basu Mishra. The discussion began with Mishra claiming that cinema and tourism were two of the worst-affected sectors by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dharahara reconstruction nears completion

Construction of the 20th floor of the 22-storey new Dharahara Tower has been completed. Now, the workers are busy constructing the 21st floor of the tower which will complete within a few days, said Raju Man Manandhar, an expert with the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA). Construction of the triple basement underground parking, four-storied museum is also moving forward, he added.
