Worker missing in hydroelectricity project's tunnel

A worker has gone missing in an accident inside the tunnel of the under-construction 86-Megawatt Solukhola Dudhkoshi Hydroelectricity Project in the district. The worker is missing after the 'bucket' snapped while going through the tunnel at Panchan area, Hanthulung Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality-3 today, while another worker has been rescued in injured condition, police said.  

Minister Badu infected with COVID-19

He went for a PCR test on Wednesday after experiencing a problem in his health. Coronavirus infection was found in him through the PCR test, Ministry's information officer Rajaram Dahal said. Minister Badu is in normal health and he will remain in isolation for some days now, Dahal added.

Sarus crane numbers on decline with shrinking wetland area

The number of the Sarus crane, a bird that lives in wetland areas, is in decreasing trend in Kanchanpur district as compared to the past. The number of these birds has started to decrease with shrinking wetland areas. Ornithologists say the loss of habitat is the main reason for the declining Sarus crane population every year.   

Construction of embankment in Narayani River started 

Construction of embankment has been started in the Narayani River here. The embankment construction project is worth Rs 4 billion 720 million.     The tender for the first section of the project has already been announced while that for the remaining four sections would be called within the next two weeks, Director General of the Department of Irrigation, Sushil Chandra Acharya, said.    

Two killed in road mishap  

Two persons were killed in a road accident in Ilam district this morning.     The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Thapa, 55, and Surya Bahadur Thapa, 40, of Mechinagar municipality-4 in the district, said Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ganga Bahadur Thapa.
