Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged one and all to carry out social conducts as per the advice of experts and the government's directives since this year's Teej festival is being observed in a difficult situation brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

COVID-19 patient dies 

A person suffering from COVID-19 has died in Pyuthan. He is 64-year-old man from Sworgadwari municipality-7 in Pyuthan district. He died at the Corona Special Hospital at Butwal in course of treatment today, Health Office Pyuthan's information officer and COVID-19 focal person, Pushkal Shrestha, said.

The government has constituted a high-level state committee for effectively carrying out prevention and control of the coronavirus.    

  Woman held with 9-kg hashish from Balambu  

Police arrested a woman along with 9.35-kg hashish on Thursday. A police team deputed from Metropolitan Police Circle Thankot held Pabitra Thing, 22, of Gajuri rural municipality-8, Dhading from Chandragiri municipality-12, Balambu.    

Bharatpur hospital records one more death related to coronavirus infection   

One more coronavirus related death was recorded at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan. The deceased has been identified as a 65-year-old man from Ratnanagar municipality-13, the hospital sources said.    

Power supply disrupted in four hilly districts  

Power supply has been disrupted in Doti along with other three hilly districts since Thursday afternoon. The electricity service has been completely obstructed in Doti, Dadeldhura, Achham and Bajura districts following the breakdown of power supply wire of 133-KVA national transmission line in Godavari area.    

Public vehicles operation restricted in Kavre until further notice 

In view of sudden spike in the cases of coronavirus infection, the COVID-19 District Crisis Management Centre Kavrepalnchowk has completely restricted the movement of public vehicles in the district since Thursday (August 20).    

Carelessness in face mask disposal ups risk of infection

The face masks thrown away hither and thither could further exacerbate the spread of the virus, the experts warned. Senior physician of Bharatpur Hospital Dr Mahendra Agrahari said that lack of appropriate disposal of the mask could fuel the virus infection.

Leaders of Chand group arrested

The Saptari Police has today arrested 41-year-old Uma Bhujel and 31-year-old Suman Singh Poudel. Bhujel is the central member and Poudel a district-level leader of the banned Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist).
