VNY2020: Hotels in Illam offer food, accommodation to tourists for Re. 1

Five hotels in Ilam, the district headquarters, each provided accommodation to a tourist for 1 rupee a night. The discount package including a square of meal for Re 1 was offered to a tourist who first booked the hotels on Tuesday, the eve of New Year, 2020.

Human rights violations increasing in Karnali state: INSEC report 

The Karnali state has witnessed increasing number of human rights violations, according to a report prepared and made public by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Karnali state. The report was launched amid an interaction programme here on Tuesday.    

UNICEF estimates over 1,500 babies will be born in Nepal on New Year’s Day   

An estimated 1,567 babies will be born in Nepal on New Year’s Day, UNICEF said today. Nepalese babies will account for 0.4 per cent of the estimated 392,078 babies to be born on New Year’s Day.    

Ward chair succumbs to cancer 

Ward chair of Birtamod municipality- 7 in Jhapa, Ganga Bahadur Bhattarai, has passed away. He was 63.     He had been battling with cancer since two years and died in course of treatment at Birtamod-based B&C Hospital. His last rites were conducted at the local Deunia River. 

Deuba says he adheres to culture of consensus 

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said he is seeking to run the party on the basis of consensus.     Talking to media persons briefly at Biratnagar Airport today, he claimed that he had not breached the party statute which would eventually make the party stronger and strengthened.

Seasonal flu claims one in Humla 

A woman died of seasonal flu at Rayagaun in Kharpunath Rural Municipality, Humla. Chunda Buda, 36, died of the flu on Monday night, local resident Purna Bahadur Rokaya said.      A large number of villagers have also taken ill from the flu.
